There are three volunteer positions for which you may apply. However, REACH reserves the right to place applicants in the position that is of greatest need or, according to staff discretion, best suits your abilities:
Volunteers are required to attend training before coming to Camp. Because REACH has such a unique culture, we use this training as a way to get to know one another, as well as introducing volunteers to specific issues they will see during Camp. We want all our volunteers to feel prepared and ready, which includes going over (A) Policy/Procedures, (B) Medical training, & (C) Psychosocial information.
Please list below two references with whom we may speak about your potential volunteer work - preferably people with whom you have done volunteer or professional work, not family members.
Please know that we will also be running a background check on each volunteer and that REACH reserves the right to accept or reject any applicant based on what we consider to be for "the good of the body" - the REACH children and families.
FYI: During training we will be conducting a TB risk factor screening that will determine whether you need to undergo a TB test. If you need to, we have a list of sites where you can get your test taken. (The results take 2-3 days to process, so plan ahead.) This screening is important because despite a decrease in reported TB cases, the disease remains a serious threat, especially for people living with HIV/AIDS. TB infection and HIV infection work together to make people very sick, and worldwide, TB is the leading cause of death among people living with HIV. (aids.gov)
REACH maintains a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when working with children and families. Please also be prepared to sign the Confidentiality forms before participating in any REACH program.
Thank you for the time and care you put into completing this application. If you have any questions or comments about REACH Ministries, please contact our office at (253) 383-7616.
There is a non-refundable registration fee for all camp participants, including volunteers ($30), to help subsidize the cost of food and housing for the 4-day Camp ($400/per). Upon completion of this application you will be directed to a page to make your debit or credit card payment. We are extremely grateful for the time that you give as a volunteer, but if you wish to contribute more than the registration fee, we would greatly appreciate your monetary support.
